Own Time

A girl escapes a glamorous party where she feels suffocated by the inability to freely express her individuality. Little did she know that she would meet her unexpected love. She instantly feels the connection with the other girl after she sees her wearing a similar watch, which brings them together.

Director Statement

I chose to direct, Own Time after a friend from Luxury and Fashion Management, came up to me with the unique idea of making a commercial for Tissot watches. Their concept was to support gay pride by making a commercial on gay couple watches, as there has never been a commercial made on gay couple watches in the watch industry. Their story was, "A girl escapes a glamorous party where she feels suffocated by the inability to freely express her individuality. Little did she know that she would meet her unexpected love. She instantly feels the connection with the other girl after she sees her wearing a similar watch, which brings them together". I also chose to work on this film as this was my first fashion film and it gave me the opportunity to explore as a director. We found our lead female actor from SCAD’s Performing Arts department and the second lead female actor is a Luxury and Fashion Management student at SCAD, but she does model and acts in various projects. Even though there aren't any dialogues in the film, but the way both the actors perceived the entire film and gave their best during the entire process was amazing. I also feel it is very difficult to portray your story and bring out emotions without any dialogues in a film. The entire crew was students from the Film and Television department at SCAD and it was so much fun working with them because we enjoyed while creating this piece of work and the level of understanding was quite mutual. This film will always be special to me since it was my first Fashion film project and the entire team was a dream team.
