Columbus, Ohio (USA) - Directed and photographed by Thomas Sawyer, EVERY FIBER follows Celeste Malvar-Stewart, a couture designer with a focus on merging fashion with sustainability and intentionality. The film captures her journey in creating a runway collection amidst the emotional whiplash of 2020. Malvar-Stewart pours all her emotions into a collection of couture gowns. She showcases her talents beyond her garments and into the lives she touches. EVERY FIBER gives viewers a beautiful example of how sustainability can enhance art.
Thomas Sawyer
Sawyer is a self-taught, nonbinary filmmaker, focused on telling stories that highlight the beauty in everyday life.
Along with creating digital content for clients, Sawyer started a web series documenting makers at work called ‘Artisans’. The series was selected by the Cleveland Int’l Film Festival for their ‘Webisodes’ category.
Most recently, Sawyer created ‘Um Yes, Hello’ and ‘Every Fiber’. Both of these medium-length documentaries individually tell the story of artists who want to leave the planet a better place than the one they were born into. The films have shown at the Montana Int’l Film Festival, Chain NYC Film Festival, & many others.
Sawyer has been creating for well over a decade with no intention of stopping any time soon. They are currently in pre-production on their first scripted film and continue to produce short-form video content for themself and their clients.
